trekkinn website trustworthy?
Hi all,
Just Want a bit of advice. Im currently looking to buy a GPS watch and have managed to find trekkinn as the best price for the particular watch I want. I just wanted to find out if this site is trustworthy or not.
Thx. TC
Hi I've used it a few times and a couple of my mates have also with no problems !
Thx nutti, amphking looking at getting forerunner 405. Btw runners ur Dublin shop sold me are brill, have completely changed my running experience for the better.
Hello,
I'm doing Connemara ultra in April, would anyone know if you can leave any bags at any water station on the course?

Just be sure of the 405, check out some of the forums for reviews from users. Not everyone was happy with battery life, the working of the bezel and a few other things. I suppose the indicator is that the 410 came out very quickly to replace it and the 405 was discontinued.
If you're buying abroad, you may have to send it abroad for any warranty or customer service issues, be sure before you commit.
I would either go for the 410 as a training computer with GPS, or the FR60 as a training computer without GPS. For basic functions of pace, time distance and mapping the 210 is perfect for most people.
Hope that helps.
The 405 has many qualitys, but has one major flaw,it hates moisture, either rain or sweat will effect it big time and as its normal for to meet a shower of rain while running it will totally mess up your data, the compass may come on or it will go onto the time of day,and it won t fix itself until it drys, hence after the run,the info will still be there to download onto your pc but the run is over,,,,
I just bought from Trekinn.com for first time two weeks ago and no problems at all, delivery was very quick! On the watch I have the 405 for few years now and no real problems with it. Like some else mentioned the bezel can go a bit mad in the rain but I just lock the screen once I start running and don't have any problems with it. Only an issue if you want change screens while running which I don't do.
Thx guys for head up, have read reviews and many say that locking the bezel on the 405 deals with the rain / sweat issue is this true? Second does the 410 suffer from the same issues re its bezel? Finally what would be a good price to buy the 410 in ireland for?
Hey folks, just a quick question about the Trekkinn website. I ordered a GPS watch online there yesterday, and today I get an email from them saying that I need to send on ID (ID Card, Passport...), before my purchase is validated and dispatched. I've never had a request like this online before, and of course it has raised suspicions. Anyone have this sort of request made of them?
And if it is all ok and above board, is a scan of ID sent in an email ok?
Cheers,
Mick
@TC - you should be able to pick up a Garmin 410 for around €300 without the HRM or €350ish as a bundle. I can check this out and confirm it for you.
@Mick M - sounds suspect, maybe give them a ring to confirm. I know our Customs people have been very busy intercepting & slapping duty on many imported goods recently and this might have something to do with it. Still confirm before sending any personal information.
Just recently purchased Vaude tent from Trekkinn and it was delivered OK and £100 cheaper than anywhere else.Unfortunately it has a manufacturing fault on the inner tent.Trekkinn have been very quick to respond to my E Mail and arrange for it to be collected by Courier and returned for exchange. Can't fault them at this stage but I guess it will take some time for replacement inner to arrive.
Ended up buying Garmin 405 on Elara.ie website (which is irish). Am delighted as got it for under 200 and have been running with it now for a number of weeks. Have to say Ive ran with it in the rain and everything and its been great. Has made a huge difference to my running times and consistency as well. For any new runners I would strongly recommend in investing in a gps watch (of course if you can afford it in this climate after of course buying good runners!)
Hey folks, I ended up cancelling the order in the end. The company is probably fine, all above board and all that, I just wasn't impressed with being asked to send a copy of my identification. The cancellation went fine, they had already charged my credit card but they put it back on, no hassle. Ended up going with Pixmania, which I think is French. Shame I didn't know about Elara.ie then, as I'd rather have given my money to an Irish company.
End result is though the Garmin 405 is a fantastic little piece of equipment. I've been running years, nice to finally see what I'm at though. Think it's helping me tighten up my runs already, result.
I agree Mick I was very iffy about going for the 405 with all the bad hype about it, but the fact that its sleeker than the 310 (which is huge on the wrist) and also its between 100-200 euros cheaper than the 610 etc makes me very happy with my choice. Because of it I am now doing consistant times and am on track for the marathon time I had set as my goal when I started. Looking forward to Cork marathon with excitment!

Never heard of the website. Where is it the site?
