Length of Galway racecourse

I recently ran a few laps of Galway racecourse and I wondered if anyone knew what distance a lap is?  I ran on the 'road' around the outside of the grass part which the horses use (running on the grass is not allowed - there were sheep grazing!).

I looked it up and a horsey website gave it as 1 mile and 2 forlongs which converts to just slightly over 2km

 I also looked up the distance on the Galway racecourse website and got the same as you but assuming the horses always take the route closest to the fence, then the outside road is a bit longer. As I'm working up to the half marathon in Connemara, I've now become obsessed with the distances I'm running!

I've ran it many times and the route you did on the outside is exactly 1.46 miles per lap. Not sure what that is in kilometres though
