Hi does anyone else have a forerunner 110 and have problems with it connecting to there pc or laptop? My laptop keeps telling me that the usb drive is not recognised. I have followed the instructions given on the garmin website but it keeps happening! Sometimes it will connect othertimes it wont. Im wondering does this happen to all of the garmin watches?

yes i've had the same problem try another usb port on the computer or try another computer. It happens on mine so I just unplug it and plug into another port and it eventually recognises it. Hope this helps

Hi, I had the same problem after getting my 110. The problem was that I did not have the connections in exactly the right place in the back of the watch when I connected them. The 4 pins should fit perfectly and amost lock into place.Take care to do this and it should solve your problem

Thanks for getting back to me. It appears that Im not the only one having problems! You would think that Garmin would be able to sort out these problems!

Bring the watch back to the store where you bought it.
Garmin are being very good on the customer service side of things. You may be without for a couple of weeks while it is returned to Garmin and sorted out.

Hi,

my Forerunner 110 got frosen, so based on advicees from many people who have prblems with this watch, I restared it by holding the light button. It got back alive, however, since then it does not show heart beat rate anymore. It also can not be recognized by my PC.
Has anyone resolved this problem please?

Thanks,

Juraj

Bought one (a 110) a couple of weeks ago, charged it and used it once, then it died. No sign of life whatsover.
Brought it back last Friday and (though it was said that this had never happened before) received an immediate exchange.
Charged it up and ... Saturday it came on as 'low battery' then died.
Was giving up on this when managed to get the charging going on Sunday but then it died again - kaput.
Dropped this 2nd one back in and await a response but am unlikely to persist with a 3rd as just don't trust them now.
Cheesed off to be honest, just wanted a simple on and off time/distance/increments scenario.
One other (thing which may be harsh is that) I imagined (naively ?) that it would show mile/km sectionals without needing to load on a computer but, obviously that's not the case.
So it's back to guessing distances for me ....

Anonymous - the Forerunner 110 will display real time pace and distance on the watch as well as your heart rate.
You only need to upload to the computer to save the data and to be able to view the mapping with the associated time / distance splits.
Juraj - because you have reset the unit you need to re-pair it with the heart rate monitor and any other accessories you may have. You will also need to 'rediscover' the watch through Garmin Connect.

Hope that helps.

I have had problems up and down with my 305 and this has always solved it,once when ithe signal was being lost and once when my pace info was lost, worth a try.

From what you describe your unit is not functioning correctly. To
correct this issue I would suggest that you master reset your unit to
clear out any corrupt data. This will clear out all data in the unit and
reset it to factory defaults and settings. Following are instructions on
how to perform a Master Reset on your unit:

-- With the unit powered off, Press and hold the Mode and Power button
at the same time. You will then see a screen that says, "Do you really
want to erase all user data Yes/NO" Select Yes and the unit will be
reset.

After the master reset please place your unit outside so that it has a
clear view of the sky for 25 to 30 minutes so that the unit can acquire
new almanac data. I would also suggest going to our website at the
following link and updating your units operating system.

My garmin will not track distance and it will not reset. It says that is has located the satellites but it does not do distance

garmin will not measure distance. It only runs the time. It also will not reset

Re: earlier comment - It's got to do distance otherwise there's no point (in km's or miles) !
Best take it back to where bought and ask the in-store expert
(there's always one) to look at it there and then otherwise it will
be sent away for 2 weeks or so, albeit it should come back sorted.

Re: fitzyshea, as an earlier post says, the connecting pins have to
lock precisely which doesn't occur easily.
You often have to fiddle maybe up to half a dozen times to get 'recognised'
but eventually it does.
If you still can't get success suggest shop expert as above.
You are right though the connections should be more automatic.
