The watch I use for running with HRM function is dead as a doornail! Im wondering does anyone have a garmin and which one? Are they any good? How much?

Hi there bought a garmin in may forerunner 110 (new model) without hrm but you can buy with a hrm I bought it off a english sport website and it cost around 170 euro postage inc. I am very happy with it and probably dont use all its features. It logs time and distance and when you log it to the computer maps your run, elevation, calories and show your time per mile etc. My sister bought a forerunner 405 and while more expensive has the same features as 110 and as far as we can make out ability to set your speed per mile and the watch will beep if your too slow or too fast. If you go to garmin website you can compare different models. Def get a garmin whatever model suits you, you wont look back..

Have the Garmin 305 and I think it excellent. My brother has the Garmin 205 and thats also excellent. In fact it has the same funtionality as the 305, except that the 305 has a heart monitor, which I never use so the 205 would suit me just as well.
If you are a runner and/or cyclist, it gives you all you require about measuring your pace, distance etc. I find it great for knowing how far I have run (and still have to tun) and what pace I am doing. I mostly use the pace to know when I should be going slower rather than faster though, which is a great help when doing long runs (preparing for a marathon)

Has anyone bought anything from ForRunnersByRunners.com and did you have any problems with them?

Im training for Dublin marathon and I do alot of half marathons...so always out running, ive been wanting a Garmin forerunner for ages...but so expensive too.  My husband is heading to California next month and im thinking he could get it cheaper for me maybe..?? any advice?

Best overall value is the 205 simple. I have the 305 but as I dont use the heart rate monitor, then the 205 is cheaper ane does all the same stuff

I got the 305 and find it excellent. I have only just started to run according to my HR and find that it's made a big difference to my training.

EoinOB you got it on US Ebay? they ship it here?

i bought the 305 so i would have the option of HR. have the 305 about 2 years - not a bother with it. Its easy (ish) to figure out the settings (i am not a techie person) I would recommend the 305 with HR function as Ive started using it recently for speed session where you have to use 70-80 pc max hr. cheaper to buy abroad, i also bought mine outside of ireland, i think they are 200 euros here ++ buy in US !

I'm currently based in Australia, and they shipped it to me no bother. Can't remember what the postage was, but not too much. Worth checking out anyway!

No, it wont provide a map on the watch, but you can upload your run to the PC when you get home and track how you did. go to www.mapmyrun.com to search for new runs in your area or even well beyond your area
