CMICK, why don't you test what your "fitness" levels are? I run an event on Mornington beach that would give you a clear indication of your current fitness levels.

It means you have factual information on your fitness, not opinions or theory - having hard facts that you can measure, feel and understand is the only way to know what your fitness levels are compared to 3 weeks or 3 months ago.

If you want more information, just drop me a line.

Cheers,

LT

I would say that you wouldn't lose too much in two weeks, but the first week back will feel tough. If possible, do two or three short, easy runs on the second of your recovery weeks.

fitness can be measured in many ways, but in terms of factual information, the only way you will know about your self is to test your self.

I run an event that would give you a clear indication of your "fitness" levels. If you want more information please don't hesitate to touch base, but in all honesty, fitness is not lost after doing a marathon  - speed maybe! Functional fitness though, that is something all runners lose to a degree once they ramp up the distance.

Hey ya CMICK well done on your timing,, If you feel too tired dont do it. I stuffed five marathons in 18 months and am currently suffering a motivational crisis! I have been doing spin classes which i find good for keeping fitness levels up. There is research out there that shows people with even basic army training as younger men come back to prime fitness levels after years of doing nothing and returning to training few a short time. I have a "post Marathon baby " and all me tee shirts are shrinking, my wife is washing them at too high a tempature I think.

You wont lose any fitness and the rest is a good thing. I got back to it last night with 6 miles. Hamstrings a bit achy over the last mile, so I think I will go for a sports massage to get some of the marathon out of my legs and give back a bit of bounce. Maybe this would be an option for you?
