I had that problem when I started running too now I just put vaseline on my feet to prevent rubbing and for me no more blisters! It's cheep and simple and for me effective!  Another idea a bit more expensive is to buy proper running socks, mono twin skins have a double layer of material one whips away excess moisture into the second layer don't know the technology behind it but they are very effective and cost approx E14.  There are other brands but I stick with the mono ones as they work for me, hope this is of some help yvonne

Hi Gor
There's an older thread about this - you can check it out at http://www.runireland.com/forums/running-talk/general-talk/need-heal-bli...
I definitely recommend covering your feet in Vaseline as Yvonne mentioned, I do it for any distance over 5km. For socks, I've used Wright Socks for years now - they're double layers and wick the moisture away. They last forever too! http://www.wrightsock.com/anti-blister.html
Finally, if you do feel a blister coming along, stick on a Compeed plaster, they're available in most chemists and supermarkets

If all else fails, then do look into getting your feet/gait analysed, you might not be wearing the correct type of shoes when you're running.
Good luck!

Hi There. Thanks very much for the advice I'll take it on board. I bought a pair of 1000 mile socks and I did a nine mile run with no blisters so they seem to be working ok so far. Thanks again. GOR1972

Just a quick note, never pull the skin off a blister as it's a protective barrier. Once you pull it off, it becomes an open wound and takes much longer to heal.

Yeah, the article does say not to remove the skin off the blister as it protects the tender skin underneath - http://bit.ly/98HP2q
