Cope Triathlon Free Training Session
Hi Guys,
last night we had 10 people for our first Triathlon Training. We worked on getting use to the cold water, removing the wetsuit quickly and to breath properly in the water.
We then went for a duo bike and run where athletes were swapping the run and bike.
Remember we meet every Monday at 8pm in the main Salthill Car park.
Coach Seb
The training on Monday night was brilliant, we got straight into it. Your right Pamela there was no time for self pity esp with the brave guy with no wetsuit.. I done my first triathalon last year in Ballinasloe without a clue what to expect but really enjoyed it everyone was so nice and encouraging, I was buzzing for days after... So I'm really pleased to be able to do some proper triathalon training this year to better prepare myself, it really helps with the nerves especially the open water part. By the time the triathalon comes along we'll be sorted..We're really going to benefit immensly from Seb's Advice and training. I really need to work on the tips about breathing properly in the water as I swallowed half of it Monday night.!!. and although I did find it tough I'm looking forward to going again this Monday and improving...hopefully: )
Do you need to bring everything with you as in bike, wetsuit and running gear? I missed last monday but hope to get myself organised enough to do it this week. Sounds like it was brillant, am a bit concerned though as my biking in complete crap and I can't seem to get the hang of it! Looking foward to grtting some tips on that bit...yvonne
Hi Yvonne,
This will be long trip for you for 1hour easy workout. how many hours it would take for you to come down from the south ?
If you want to come down which you are more than welcome, you need to bring all the gear.
We tailor for every ability so you don't need to worry about your equipment, fitness etc....

Mark
Yes of course..... I will just making everything 3 times to catch up :-)
Hi Seb (and other Monday trainees)
I really enjoyed Mondays session, thanks. I even forgot the pain of the cold water after a while! It's great to get stuck in with the group... you just go for it. I thought I'd be a bit lost as I haven't biked or swam in ages (I run regularly tho') but it was all good. It's great to learn how to do it all properly.
If you're thinking of coming along do!!
See ye next Mon, Siobhán
Hi everyone...our second monday night training was great, the swim was brilliant.. getting more used to breathing properly and the salt water didnt bother me as much this time, maybe I just didnt drink as much as i did first time!! mounting and dismounting bikes was great really saves time, the more we done it the more confident we got.. thats something I didnt have the nerve to do before as I was afraid of falling off.. but Seb is really testing us and it proves we have it in us just keep trying and improving all the time..we had a nice run too to warm us up.. really enjoying it, looking forward to monday night : ) anyone who's thinking of coming should really, it doesnt matter what level your at you'll be fine its great craic and will make the triathalon so much less nerve wracking you'll enjoy it more on the day
Hi guys and gals,
This is the plan for the next two sessions:
24th : 2 Groups : when 1 group is swimming, the other one will be cycling + run for 30min each. (Bike will focus and changing gear) run will focus on body position and relax shoulders. 2km bike for 1km run repeats.
31st : 20km bike (Race route) , 15min swim (endurance) + real transition 15min run easy.
7th : Long swim 20min and 5km run (1km easy, 1km fast) and easy bike 20min
I will also do a mini Triathlon session in Loughrea on the 6th of June at 2pm (500m swim, 10km cycle, 3km run) Free for people who will sign up for the event.
Hi Seb Thanks so much for training session, I forgot to say it the last day, it was a great session and you gave us a good long swim, it got us good and warmed up!! I struggled a bit with the swim but its still great preparation for the day and we will be well used to the cold and the yucky saltiness ( it was really bad mon... well for me anyway because I wasnt doing my breathing properly and ended up drinking most of it!) but I still think its good to go through the wee hiccups at this stage so we'll be fine on race day, thanks again.. looking forward to Westport : )
Hi Seb thought that these sessions were finished am so glad I logged on to see that they are not. They are brillant and so worth the journey. See that there is a 20k cycle which done on Monday is this done as a tri with the swim, cycle, run sequence? My cycle is still so very bad and soooo slow it's just not funny so would love to try it just to see if I can, and survive the effort at the same time!
Hi Guys,
Plan is as above...... thanks for the comments and see you monday.

A bit of feedback :-)
