Hi to all doing the Conemarathon in April, just to let anyone that is interested that I ran the "Hell of the West" this morning. Its pretty much a solid 2 mile climb, followed by about a mile decent and then a flattish mile into the finish line at Maam cross.
Now I done this as the last 4 mile of a ten mile run, and I know its a big difference after running 22 miles or 35+ miles of the ultra, but I have to say it was not to bad, its a gradual climb, and not overly steep.
Anyone looking for a quick time should probably take a quick drive out this part of the course the evening before, or maybe early in the morning.

How long did it take you to run it? I am running the half this year am just wondering how much should I save for that tough 2 miles.

I usually run about a 8.30 min mile, but it probably added about 30 sec a mile onto my usual time, its a weird hill cause it just looks so steep. My advise would be to get whatever fluids you need as you turn the corner at Maam, heading up towards peacocks at Maam cross and the finish line.
