Hello,
I am looking for some advise. I completed a half marathon last september in phenoix park, but I am a slow runner. I am currently training for another half marathon in London in March , but I really want to build up my speed. I find that when I try to run fast that I have to stop, as I am out of breath and end up having a bad run. Can anyone advise me on how I can build up my speed?
Thanks

Its horrible trying to build speed, because you should try interval training, meaning you do short periods og running hard then a rest period where you slow down again, then pick up etc etc

My first advice would be simply to increase your number of training session.
More mileage for beginners will always increase your speed natuarlly.
Then when you think you reach your maximum amount of hours (Volume) you can consider to increase the intensity (speed) and inertvals.
But steps by steps....

What happens though if your speed doesnt happen naturally though, even with buiit up millage and you just get slower? That's whats happening to me, even before injury? Any ideas....yvonne

I suppose this is difficult to answer, because we don't know you enough to comment really.
The few points to consider, would be physiological problems or  too much too quick which brings fatigue, nutrition etc....
The interesting comments to consider yvonne is "even before injury" is that possible you could have been injured because teh way you were running..... fatigue, posture etc..... (by the way did you sort out your login ? email me if you have problems)
