hi. have been running for the last month now and want to try a 10 k in september. I dont know how fast i should progress to a 10k and am kinda stuck! Also can you run and walk these races? As you can see I'm not very experienced with running and would love some good advice...

ok just did a 10k on sunday my first ever, i allways kept fit to a certin level, but nothing to this level, ok i had done one month of training, alone, now its not easy, very hard to get in the right frame of mind, i comleted the 10k in 48 odd min, which i was over the moon with, there was three more girls i know who trained again for in an around the same time and they ran a 60/65/and68min race none of us are by any ways good at running and we all struggled so at the end of the day it does not matter what time you do it in, its just a great feeling when you finish the dam thing, best of luck with your training and race

Hi.  I've been running now for 3 months and running my first proper 10-k this sat - at Ardillan Castle.  I did a training run this week of 10-k in 59.05, perhaps not the best thing I should have done thisTuesday, now I know it was so close to a race day, so I'm told by other more experienced runners.  Not sure you will be ready for it so early, it all depends on age and  fitness I suppose.  What are your base km/week on avarage and what is your longest run to date and appox time.  I think you can also walk and run races, so not a proble have a ago, the most important thing is to take part and say that you did it.  Good  Luck.
