Sligo, Enniscrone. Mattie Carden Memorial 10k Run/Walk in aid of the Irish Kidney Association

10k Run/Walk - all funds raised will go directly to the Irish Kidney Association. The run/walk will be officially started, by Eamon O'Hara, former All Star and current Sligo footballer, at 12.30 p.m. at The Diamond Coast Hotel, Enniscrone. This run marks the anniversary of Mattie Carden's death. Mattie was the lucky recipient of a kidney transplant in 1989, thanks to the generosity of a very special donor. The IKA were instrumental in supporting Mattie on dialysis, during and after transplantation and their support proved fundamental to his family.
 
All pre-registered participants can pick up their bib (race number) in Queenan Properties, Enterprise Centre, Pier Road (if you are coming from Sligo, take a right in the centre of the town, just before the church, continue down this road - approx 100 metres on the right-hand side). If you are coming from Mayo, you will pass the church on your right, take the next left and 100metres down the road on the right, 'Queenan Properties' at the front of the Enterprise Centre, Pier Road.  Registration will be open from 6.30 - 8.30 pm on Friday 9th and 9.30 am - 12 noon on Saturday 10th for anyone who would like to enter the 10k, who has not entered on-line.
 
Entry forms are available in Milo's Newsagents, Main Street and Queenan Properties, Enterprise Centre, Enniscrone. Entry forms are also available in Kenny Sports, Ballina. You can post your entry form and €10 entry fee to the address provided or return the form to any of the venues listed.
 
The route - The run/walk starts on the main road at The Diamond Coast Hotel, take a left at Gilroy's bar, you will pass the pier on your left, continue until the end of this road, at T-junction - take a left, continue until the next junction, take a right (Carrowhubbock South), follow the road (you will come out just past the creche/fire station), take a left, continue until Scott's, take left (Carrowhubbock North), continue to the end of the road, take a right, continue to the end of the road (passing Colleary Furniture on the way), take a right ... (now you are back on the final stretch for Enniscrone), continue straight until you reach Gilroy's bar (the run/walk finishes at the square, just before Gilroy's bar (or opposite The Pilot Bar).
 
There will be water stations at 3k, 5k, 8k and 10k.
A fantastic scenic route, largely flat terrain - perfect for novices and anyone looking for a PB.
Refreshments will be served in Gilroy's bar after the run/walk.
