The Good Run
Calling all runners, joggers and walkers - the Good Run is back this Good Friday to get the Easter weekend off to a healthy start! Now in its third year, organisers are hoping it will be bigger and better. The charity fun run will be returning to St Anne’s Park, Raheny on Good Friday, 14 April 2017. The exciting event offers a choice of two distances, 2.5km and 5km, for runners and walkers of all abilities and promises a great family morning out. Proceeds will go towards supporting the fight against motor neurone disease (MND).
A Good Run for a Good Cause on Good Friday
Event organiser Olivia Sexton, whose mother Esther Tracey lost her three year battle with MND in August 2016, said at the official launch today “We’re proud to be announcing the launch of the third annual Good Run today. It’s a particularly sad year for us however as my Mam was an integral part of the organisation of the event in previous years”.
Also there to launch the event were Former European Cross Country Champion and World Cross Country medalist Catherina McKiernan and Aisling Farrell, CEO of the IMNDA. “Over 85% of our income comes from fundraising and donations so I’m thrilled to see The Good Run back for another year. Its fundraising events like this which the IMNDA depend on to continue providing vital care and support for people living with MND” said Aisling Farrell today.
All proceeds from the event will be divided equally and donated to the IMNDA and Project MinE, an international research programme dedicated to discovering the genetic cause of MND to enable treatment to be developed. Olivia Sexton added “We’re very excited and grateful to welcome Goodbody on board this year. Goodbody are our very first primary sponsor and their support will ensure 100% of the entry donations go to our beneficiaries.” To date The Good Run has seen over 1,800 participants and has raised over €30,000. Organisers are expecting big numbers this Easter weekend so register early!
