Hi there, i'm just checking to see if you choose a different charity each year or do you support Crumlin children's hospital every year? Thanks, bernie

Hi bernie,

This is the first year we are running this event, so if it is successful, we may choose a different one next year. That does not stop you taking part for a different charity if you wish, to raise your own funds. All profits from entrance fee goes to Childrens Hosp

How must is entry for the 26.2 Km event ?

Have I missed something or is there no mention of the cost of entry to either event? Can you please tell me how much both cost please. Thanks ... Marie

i entered the 26.2 km race and it was €30

I will be on holiday with my family but would like to participate, how do I get there from Dublin City Centre?

Is there a map of the course available? Or is there a website for this event, there seems little information provided above?

Hi

Just wondering why this race is only open to people over 18 years old. I'l still be 17 by the time of this event but have run dozens of races before and have never encountered this problem. After all it is for charity.. my money is as good as anyone elses?

Kind regards
Anon

Hi Anon sorry, but our insurance would not cover us for anyone under 18years, sorry about that

Hi kevin, thank you for your interest, you can get JJ kavanagh's or Bus eireann bus from City centre to Moone village and this is where the race starts or if you are driving head down the naas road past Naas exit and newbridge and take the next exit for waterford /carlow. Then continue on this motorway until you reach the exit for Crookstown/ballytore take that exit turn left at the roundabout and at the end of that road turn right and then take sign for Timolin/moone on the left about 2 miles along this road and Moone is the Village where the race starts

hi i am also interested in doing the marathon and i will be travelling from dublin.i rang both jj kavanagh and the bus satation and i was told that thay dont stop in moone.

Hi,

Im a Foreigner and already run many halfmarathon and 10K in the Philippine. I want to join the charity event and would like to ask if where could i get the Athletics Association Ireland Race Permit. Im in DUn Laoghhaire and just new in the city.

Thanks a million!

is there any t shirts

Hi, no we are not doing T Shirts, as this is a charity event and we want all the proceeds to go to the charity we decided to ditch the T Shirt and have a good quality medal instead

hi,
just wondering what sort of course this is? hilly?

Hi, there are a few hills on each course but nothing 2 heavy

Is the Kilomarathon open for fun runners?

IS THE KILOMARATHON OPEN TO FUN RUNNERS?

Hi,

Looking forward to competing in this unique event. One thing that I've a little concern about for myself is giving our so far hot summer, is there any reason why the race is being run at 1pm as opposed to a (maybe) cooler earlier morning start.

Regards

P

Hi P

The time for this event was set long before the good weather arrived, and as we must submit a traffic plan with times to the authorities Months in advance, but looking at the weather at the moment this may not be a problem, but we will monitor it

Hi,

I am just enquiring about route information if possible? If this is not possible does it end in moone village.

Many Thanks :)

for the 26km race,is there going to be water stations?

kev

Hi, yes the kilomarathon is open to all types of runners

Hi there,
Does the entrance fee include the timing chip?
Thanks, U

Yes there will be 6 water stations on the big race and 2 on the smaller 1, and yes the entrance fee includes the timing chip

Hello Carlito,

If you send me and email to johnpaul.donoghue@gmail.com, i will send you a copy of the permit which you can then verify

Hello Organisers,
One major concern for all runners taking part in the 26km event is the timing of the race start. The 1pm race start seems ill-considered (but i guess there are other factores) and it would be best for a 10am start at the latest as August is the hottest and most humid month. That said the next most important thing on a hot day is hydration. Water in cups at races like this are totally useless as they dont allow you to hydrate properly. Unless you want to stop and drink 2 cups at each station. Small water bottles that you can grab and carry with you are the only effective means of race provided hydration. Unless you want the First Aid crews to be overrun on the day with dehydrated victims of poor planning then water bottes can be your only choice at water stations. I hope you publish this, afterall...forewarned is forearmed.

Hi I agree will the above comment - it is very difficult to drink from a cup of water when running

I also have to agree with the above comment, it's very hard to stay hydrated when drinking from a cup as most of it goes on the road or down your bib. The long range forecast says the temperature will be about 20 degrees.

Yes i would definitely agree with the above. The amount of people that collapse due to poor hydration increases in the heat.

Hi, just wondering is there a time limit for the 10k, i.e. above what time should you actually enter the fun run instead? I expect to be around the 70 minute mark and don't want to choose the wrong group either way!

Thanks, looking forward to Sunday

hi

for the 26km ,how many water stations are there?

there are 5  water stations at present, on the kilomarathon and depending on how the weather goes we will add more if needed

There is no time limit for either race

There will be bottled water at each station and also cups of water, and there will be at least 5 water stations on the kilomarathon and more depending on the weather. There will be 1 water station on the 10km

What are the official starting times please?

You say starting time for 10k is 12:30 and 1:15 for kilomarathon, but then later it says 'The run will start promptly at 1pm'.

Sorry, that start time is for walkers 12:30, if you are running the 10km race you will start at 1pm and if you are running the kilomarathon you will start at 1:15pm

Hi, Just wondering what the prizes are for both races? Are there better prizes for the kilomarathon?

J

prizes for kilomarathon are 1st 200 2nd 130 3rd 90 4th 60 5th40 and 6th 30 the 10km are 1st 120 2nd 80 3rd 60 4th 50 5th 40 and 6th 30

Will it be possible to enter on the day? I seem to have missed the online registration!

registration has been extended until tonight at midnight ie 05/08/10 or if you miss this you can enter on the day but we can't gurantee a goody bag if you enter on the day

Hi, Just wondering what the prizes are for the different races?

This question has been answered above

I have not entered online or by post, is it possible to turn up on the day and enter? If so, what time? thanks

You can still enter online until midnight tonight, but you can enter on the day, but we can't gurantee a goody bag or medal.registration is from 10am and finishes at 11:30

I have entered online. Do I still have to collect my number by 11:30? The reason I entered online was so that I wouldn't have to arrive really early. An hour and a half before the race starts (10k) seems a bit much. Is this time just for those who haven't registered online/by post??

Hi, If you enter on the day do you still get a timing chip?

Sorry registration will stay open until just before the kilomarathon

This is ridiculous. So are you now saying that its not an 1130 cut off? Why is this info not on the website or facebook. Can you confirm the latest time we can pick up race numbers? I certainly did not expect to have to wait around for an hour and 45 mins
