Dr. Attracta Farrell Bsc (Hons) (Human Sciences) Msc (Chiro), DC, AECC
Athenry Chiropractic Clinic, Casita, Court lane, Athenry, Co Galway
Attracta Farrell studied chiropractic at the Anglo European College of Chiropractic in Bournemouth, doing a four-year degree and then a masters.
“I had a car crash and was going for various therapies and found that chiropractic was the one for me,” she says. “It is a very intense medical course, but it’s enjoyable.”
Dr Farrell now runs her own practice in Athenry, dividing her time between Dublin and Galway.
Dr Farrell is very definite about the traits a chiropractor must possess: “You need to care and you need to be able to listen to your patients, as sometimes they won’t tell you directly what is wrong with them. You need to be patient and you do need to be hardworking.”
Attracta Farrell attended the Cunniffe Irish Dance School in Tuam, County Galway, Ireland. In 1996 she placed 2nd in the Girls' 17-19 category at the 1996 World championship. In fact, she placed right behind Gillian Norris, and Fiona Harold won in that category that year!
Attracta joined the original cast of "Lord Of The Dance" in 1996 - but it wasn't as simple as that. She was called in as a replacement for Linda Cawte a month before the show opened. Linda broke her ankle during rehearsals and could not dance on opening night. Linda went on to join Riverdance afterwards. Attracta also danced in "Feet Of Flames" and left shortly afterwards.
